My Pokemon Team

ugh, I edited some of the color in photoshop, but the original still looks MUCH cleaner. God I hate this scanner.

ANYWAY. This is my entry for :iconshikakusuika:'s contest. You were supposed to design a pokemon trainer (this one obviously being myself) and their team. I wanted to do a background, but by the time I'd finished coloring this I was so tired and my arm hurt so bad from having a meningitis vaccine yesterday that I decided not to. And I was afraid of screwing the whole thing up.

Here's a rundown on the pokemon and trainer:

- The houndoom is named Loki. He's my MGM hound Celeste's younger brother that she assumed was killed off long ago when she was taken away and thrown into the lab. He was Ill's first pokemon. She rescued him when she was a little girl and Loki was a puppy and hand raised him. He's somewhat hardheaded and doesn't trust new people that easily, but he's really sweet and puppyish at heart. He refuses to stay in a pokeball for more than five minutes. He's also pretty identifiable because like his sister he has a spiky tuft of fur on top of his head and a silver patch around the end of his tail. He also has funny cream spots on his shoulders and hips. Also one eye is yellowed green while the other is a more common violet. Loki is the "alpha", if you will, of the team.
- The manetric's name is Panic. He's got a sort of skittish and paranoid personality that he's always had since he was caught as an Electrike. Ill is training him and trying to work on this. Despite his paranoia he really enjoys being out for runs, especially right before and right after thunderstorms. His identifying features are the three gold/yellow spots under each eye.
- The Mightyena's name is Calloway. Or sometimes Callie. She used to be the alpha female of a pack before Ill caught her and often butts heads with Loki because both have the same dominant, headstrong personality and are used to giving orders. Despite all of the spats that they have, they really do get along and care about eachother's well being.
- The Charizard is Scorch, Ill's second pokemon that she recieved when he was a charmander. I personally really liked the striped pattern that was on the cloned charizard from Mewtwo Strikes Back because it reminds me of the Jurassic Park raptors. So I used it on Scorch's design. His personality can be somewhat contradictory at times. He tends to be moody and violent at times, especially when insulted or when defending Ill or the rest of the team. To some he comes off as selfish and angry all of the time, even though the genuine anger usually stems from caring about someone else's well being. Scorch, though callous, is always eager to please and willing to battle. He's swift in flight and a reliable source of transportation when needed.
- The Umbreon is Astrid. She's the one in the group who may or may not be out of her mind half of the time. She's got a bubbly, morbid personality that, though irritating at first, grows on people. She's absentminded and often gets distracted. Also she has an awkward habit of strolling up with dead things trailing out of her mouth, often at the worst places and times and in the worst company to do so. Though distracted easily, she's quite devoted to her mate, Spade.
- The Espeon is of course, Spade. He's head over he- ...er paws for Astrid and would do anything for her. This encompasses bailing her out of the awkward situations she gets herself into as well as fiercely fighting beside her whenever it's needed. Ill caught Spade in the wild as an eevee. She bought Astrid as an eevee, however, as a game corner prize. The two grew up together and eventually grew as close as they are now. Spade is the true intellectual of the group. While most of the others are street-smart he's the one who would be considered book-smart. When he's not having one of his typical hardheaded moments, Loki often comes to Spade for advice.

I based the trainer on myself so for all intensive purposes, we'll call her Ill. She's got the same personality and character traits/flaws as I do (surprise). Headstrong, determined, artistic, absentminded and loyal. Bad luck in relationships. Blah blah blah. Ill's pretty laid back most of the time and it takes a lot to get her genuinely angry. If someone manages to push all of the right buttons though she has a temper to match that of Scorch. She hates angry confrontation and prefers friendly competition instead. And she would rather let things just roll right off her back. She is originally from Ecruteak city and grew up there, but she also spent a lot of time over in Kanto at Lavender town visiting relatives. She's fascinated with the old legends about the fires and the towers in her home town. I'm going to shut up now becuse I feel like I'm rambling.

Pokemon of course, belongs to Nintendo.
